Prayer Rope used like a Rosary
Use the Prayer Rope like a Rosary to learn, and pray upon, the 12 Great Feasts of Orthodoxy. Four Great Feasts are prayed upon each day over a three day period (Monday1-4, Tuesday 5-8, Wednesday 9-12) then you repeat the cycle. We do not recommend this Prayer Rope said on Sunday. We recommend you prepare prayerfully, and go to Church on Sunday.
The shorter version of the prayers are done in video format on our Faith Ladder yellow belt level and the full versions are found on our Faith Ladder brown belt level for you to follow along as individual prayer or in a group.
There is a follow along handout to download
The 12 Great Feasts are centered around the Feast of Feasts- The Resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
1-The Nativity of our Most Holy Lady the Theotokos
2-The Elevation of the Venerable and Life-Giving Cross
3-The Entrance into the Temple of our Most Holy Lady the Theotokos
4- The Nativity of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
5- Theophany-The Baptism of Christ
6-Presentation of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the Temple (we include in our prayer the Circumcision and Finding in the temple after searching for him for three days)
7-The Annunciation of the Theotokos (included is the Visitation of the Theotokos to Elizabeth)
8-Palm Sunday
9-The Ascension of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
10-Holy Pentecost
11- The Transfiguration of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
12-The Dormition of the Theotokos (AKA “The Assumption” included is some fantastic tradition about her falling asleep you may not know about or ever heard. The tradition that surrounds St Thomas not being by her bedside is particularly worth study)
May God guide your prayers!
